Al Garhoud Bridge has been elected Infrastructure Project of the Year 2008 On last Thursday, 13th November, the Gulf States Building Awards have been elected in Dubai. The Al Garhoud Bridge, which BESIX built, was the first in the ‘Infrastructure Project' category. This prestigious event was organized by ‘Building' a British Construction Magazine and sponsored by a number of International Contractors and Engineering companies. The election took place in the Madinat Jumeirah complex in Dubai.

Success for BESIX in new businesses: new concession signed in Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi – 30 July 2008. The BESIX Group has recorded another success in its new businesses, by signing, in joint venture, a BOOT contract (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer), with the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, related to the financing, concept, construction and operation of two new waste water treatment plants for the city of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Construction contract for tram network in Dubai BESIX will participate, in a new international joint-venture, in the buidling of a new tram network in Dubai for a value of EUR 693 million. The network will connect 19 stations and will be in use during 2011.

New Contract for BESIX in the Netherlands Rijkswaterstaat and Coentunnel Company BV signed the contract for the “Capacity Expansion Coentunnel Route”. This involves a so-called DBFM-contract (Design, Build, Finance en Maintain) with a duration of 30 years and a total value of approximately EUR 500 million.

Half-Way Tree Transportation Center, Kingston - Jamaica' Inaugurated On 12 January 2008, the Half-Way Tree Transportation Center was officially inaugurated. The futuristic bus terminal is completely designed and built by Belgian companies. BESIX was working as subcontractor for Transurb Technirail.
